About A Therapeutic Alternative

A Therapeutic Alternative is a Social Purpose Corporation with an intention to provide a professional and holistic environment for cannabis consumers to obtain products and education from our compassionate and knowledgeable staff. We believe in the healing powers of cannabis and advocate for the continued growth of the legal industry in the greater Sacramento region, at the state capital and on the federal level.

Founded in 2009 by medical cannabis patient’s rights advocates. Providing a high quality product and service to our members has been a driving passion behind our company for over a decade.

Our core values:

  • Health- We want to inspire health on a holistic (mind, body and spirit) level in our members, employees, and the community.
  • Happiness- We provide a happy workplace, inspire happiness in others, and enjoy our service to our members.
  • Education- This is the basis for change and freedom. We believe knowledge is power and therefore work to continually empower our staff, our government, our industry, our community, and our members.
  • Industry Leadership- We model professionalism, compassion, and integrity for our industry as leaders.

A Therapeutic Alternative believes in supporting local businesses, small businesses, and legacy operators when choosing the brands we carry. As large business takes over our industry, we have seen many legacy companies struggle to survive, and have seen the diversity of gender, race, and socioeconomic leadership drastically decrease.

As buyers of products, we have the ability to vote with our dollar to preserve our industry and support small, diverse businesses that give back to advocacy and care about environmental sustainability.

With this in mind, before we choose to work with any company, we ask them the following questions –

  • When and where was your company founded?
  • Who are your owners and what is the company’s story?
  • What is the size of your farm or do you source from small farms?
  • Do you use environmentally sustainable business practices?
  • How do you give back to your community and/or advocate for the cannabis community?

By asking these questions we seek to identify companies: with diverse ownership, including women, minority, and LGBTQ owned businesses; who are legacy operators; who run small farms or purchase from small farms; or are focused on giving back to the cannabis community, the environment, and the community at large.

If you would like to reach out to our Product Purchasing Department, please e-mail them at ProductPurchasing@ATherapeuticAlternative.com and include answers to the above questions.
