At A Therapeutic Alternative, we strive to reshape the narrative around cannabis, breaking stereotypes and showcasing its profound health benefits. Our Executive Director, Kimberly Cargile, was recently featured on Close Up Radio, where she shared her mission of educating the public and reducing stigmas surrounding cannabis use.
In the episode, Kimberly highlights how A Therapeutic Alternative has cultivated a compassionate atmosphere in East Sacramento. “There is a stereotype that people come to our dispensary to get high,” she explains. “Actually, the number one question we get is, ‘How do I use cannabis and not get high?’ That is the goal: helping our patients feel better and achieve a better quality of life. The stereotypes are definitely not true in our case.”

Kimberly emphasizes the importance of educating patients and the public about the safe, effective use of cannabis. A Therapeutic Alternative serves patients with a variety of conditions, including:
- PTSD
- Migraines
- Autoimmune disorders
- Anxiety
- Neuropathy
- Chronic pain
- And many others
Administrative techniques are tailored to individual needs, utilizing options such as topicals, tinctures, edibles, suppositories, concentrates, and dried herbs to ensure patients receive the relief they seek.
Breaking Stigmas Through Education
Kimberly also discusses the challenges of overcoming decades of cannabis-related propaganda. “Multiple generations have been conditioned to believe the propaganda, so it’s simply a matter of getting mainstream media to stop stereotyping,” she says. “We’re getting there slowly. More and more people are coming out about their use and telling others that cannabis has helped them.”
Cannabis as a Safer Alternative
For Kimberly, her role goes beyond running a dispensary. It’s about creating a movement. “I’m proud that I’m educating people and reducing the stigmas around cannabis as medicine and cannabis as a safer alternative,” she says.
We’re honored to see Kimberly spotlighted on Close Up Radio and grateful for the opportunity to continue changing lives through education and compassion.
