People and their dogs seeking amusement will not want to miss a trip to Truitt Bark Park! A pawsitively wonderful doggy playground, this pawsome location finds its home on a small parcel of property within Brooks Truitt Park. Brooks Truitt, a local municipal activist who volunteered to oversee the city of Sacramento, is commemorated by the naming of this dog-friendly park.

Since its opening in June of 2017, Truitt Bark Park has received rave reviews from both people and their canine companions. The two on-site runs are paved with crushed granite to prevent your dog from slipping and falling throughout his day of play. One of the play areas is designated for small dogs, while the other is for larger dogs. Your canine companion will have a great time at Truitt Bark Park not only because they will make new canine friends, but also because they will be able to run around freely. Fido must remain on a leash if you opt to explore the family-friendly sections of Brooks Truitt Park, but your pup can leave the leash at the entry.

Park Amenities

• Play Areas – Truitt Bark Park is home to two play areas, one designated for small dogs and one designated for large dogs. The large dog area boasts a covered jungle gym and agility course that can challenge any pup’s jumping and climbing abilities. The smaller dog area has a variety of obstacles, tunnels and bridges that your furry friends can explore together.
• Decomposed granite play surface – Truitt Bark Park is made of a decomposed granite play surface that gives dogs a softer landing when they jump and run around. This surface is also easier on their paws so they can play longer without getting tired out.
• Canine water fountains –   On hot summer days, dogs can stay cool by taking a drink from one of the canine water fountains located throughout Truitt Bark Park. The fountains provide clean, filtered water to keep your pup hydrated and happy.
• Poop bags – Dog owners never have to worry about forgetting their poop bags when they visit Truitt Bark Park. The park provides a variety of pooper-scooper bags for easy picking up after your pet.
• Shaded areas – For those who don’t enjoy the heat, Truitt Bark Park has plenty of shaded areas to keep your pup cool and comfortable while they explore the park. With plenty of trees, benches, and picnic tables, you can enjoy some quality outdoor time with your pup.
• Seven-foot tall BARK sculpture – which makes for a great photo op! As you explore the park, keep an eye out for the seven-foot tall BARK sculpture. This metal art piece is a great way to commemorate your trip to Truitt Bark Park and make sure to snap a photo while you’re there.
• Walking Trails – Many people enjoy going for a nature walk, and Truitt Bark Park is the perfect place to get some exercise while also taking in the sights of nature.

Park Rules

1. Dog owners/handlers are personally and legally responsible for their dogs’ behavior at all times. Dogs should always be leashed while in the parking lot and on trails but may be off leash when in designated areas.
   
2. Owners/handlers must clean up after their dogs and properly dispose of the waste in provided receptacles.
   
3. Dogs must have a current license and be vaccinated for Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella.
   
4. Dogs must be friendly towards people and other animals; aggressive behavior is not tolerated.
   
5. Aggressive dogs are not allowed.  If a dog appears to be aggressive, the owner/handler must take immediate action to remove their dog from the park. Dogs that display aggressive behavior are not allowed in the park.
